This document will cover some of the basics (and not so basics) on writing for the PSB Wiki.
Basic Rules[]
Titling[]
When writing the proper names of musical compositions or collections, observe the following guidelines:
Type | Rule | Examples |
---|---|---|
Song Title | should be enclosed in single quotes. | 'West End Girls', 'Violence' |
Album/Collection/Video Title | should be italicized. | Please, the single for West End Girls, Performance. |
Version or Remix | should be enclosed in parentheses | West End Girls (Extended Mix) |
Capitalization[]
We use the Wikipedia standard to capitalize, including:
- The first word and last word in the title.
- All other words except for:
- Coordinating conjunctions – and, but, or, nor.
- Prepositions shorter than five characters – of, to, in, for, on, over, with, than; but Through, About, During, Until
- Articles – an, a, the.
- The word to in infinitives.
Note that short verbs (Is, Are, Be, Do) and pronouns (Me, It, His) are capitalized.
Linking[]
When linking within in article, follow these basic rules.
Type | Rule | Examples |
---|---|---|
Song Title | don't include quotes in the link. | 'West End Girls', 'Violence' |
Album/Collection/Video Title | Italicize and link | Please, the single for West End Girls, Performance. |
Version or Remix | don't include the version in the link. | West End Girls (Extended Mix) |
People | in an article's body, link the first instance of the name.
When the name appears in credits (such as a versions page), link every instance. |
