Background[]
Neil wrote this song on acoustic guitar before he met Chris, but could never complete it. At some point, Chris finished off the chords in just the way Neil had envisioned it, but had never been able to suss out. Producer Harold Faltermeyer originally wanted this to be an "L.A. Ballad", "as though Whitney Houston was going to sing it," but it became this stripped down version instead.
The lyrics are about two gay boys meeting each other, and then being too shy to have sex. Despite this connotation, and his coming out in early 1993, Neil admits that at the time of writing this song, he was dating a woman.
