Background[]

The band admits, after the fact, that this was inspired by George Michael. "One of us saw a photograph in a newspaper of George Michael and a woman and said, 'bet she's not your girlfriend'. People always assumed that George Michael was gay but we didn't know for sure. When I actually wrote the lyric I made it about me. When I was at school I briefly went out with this girl, Krysia... and she was very beautiful and she used to meet me outside the school gates occasionally, and people could not believe that she was meeting me...The song is really about people being bitchy. It describes me as 'shy, dry and verging on ugly'; that's definitely how I thought of myself.
